Improved Inductance Calculation in Variable Power Inductors by Adjustment of the Reluctance Model Through Magnetic Path Analysis

This article presents a study to improve the inductance calculation of magnetic components in power converters, particular interest, case applications using variable inductors. In order increase accuracy estimation reluctance paths, several factors have been taken into consideration, such as permeability definition under saturation, temperature effect on material behavior, and distribution saturated regions core. The methodology present is compare analytical models derived from circuital equivalents against finite-element analysis numerical techniques, validate proposed model inductor, including effects mentioned factors. then compared with experimental measurements prove its validity. Finally, design example for inductor presented.
